Forum Nokia organizes hundreds of events every year for developers. These events could be more transparent and social online. In addition to top-down organization, an online community could organize events together from the bottom-up.
Solution
Together with partners we created a new concept called Bantora, with the slogan events++: better, more social and technologically empowered extended events. Events could be organized by Nokia, developers or any other third party. Each event has their own invitation page, blog, wiki, social networking and media sharing capabilities.
Brief
Elisa was looking for a way to communicate to their corporate customers about the challenges of changing knowledge work and leadership. The aim was to include latest developments and points of viewregarding social media.
Solution
Together with Elisa we researched, designed and procuded a visually stunning slide show and a four minute video presentation, intended as the closing keynote for their most important corporate customers event. See the video.
Brief
Communications agency Deski has experience from organizing press conferences and it maintains an idea page for journalists at deski.fi. So far events have been mainly analogic. What if one could take part in a press conference online?
Solution
Together with Deski we generated an idea of digital press conference format, in which press conferences are held at Deski's web page. We extended the web page with a press conference section that provides real time video stream and conversation, and also background material.
Brief
Culminatum coordinates Digibusiness.fi Think Tank, a network of European business development organisations operating as business catalysts for services in the digital content industry. This international network requires online collaboration tools to plan their actions.
Solution
In a few days from the initial discussions we had the preliminary online working environment ready for the Think Tank members. Old materials including meeting minutes were migrated and a new layout for the service was created. A video tutorial for members was created to introduce the service.
Brief
Wanha Satama along with partners organized a major event to discuss the future of learning and innovation. A social media service was needed to increase the ammount of conversation before, during and after the event.
Solution
Dicole participated on several levels in the implementation of the event from planning to running workshops. The event was organized in two parts, starting with a pre-conference Learning Café and ending with a two day main event. A case study of the event is available here.
Brief
Häme Open Campus, an educational and research network in Tavastia Proper, published a competition of a high level, in which a new kind of solution was seeked for the community's digital presence.
Solution
We won the competition with our proposition that connects discussion areas, wiki technology, and sharing media. Community area's basic unit is event, in which these tools are joined together with analogic meetings.
Brief
Human Resources professionals from major finnish organizations have met each other face to face for years to form a community of practice. An online community could provide a relavant backchannel for the cumulation of ideas, notes and concepts.
Solution
Based on their interest in social media we created an online community for HR professionals to share ideas about organizational learning, metrics, leadership development and other relevant topics. The community works as a digital extension to their physical meetings.
Brief
Kesko, a leading service company in the field of daily consumer goods, got interested in social media and the possibilities it provides, so they decided to adopt it as a part of company's operations. For this purpose they needed training and guidelines how one should work in the environment of social media.
Solution
We provided them training and workshops, in which information on social media and about its tools were conveyed, and also objectives and means to use social media among others were considered and analyzed. We built a community platform for Kesko, and started to build a social media netiquette for them together with our people and theirs.
Brief
The education organization KVS Foundation wanted to digitally connect young Swedish-speaking Finns living abroad and provide them with a virtual learning environment. The aim was to create a new way to use social technologies in education.
Solution
We designed a completely unique learning environment with tailor-made graphics to best support the online learning requirements of K-12 kids. The basis of the platform is a nomadic theme that reflects an adventurous view on learning. We also coached the teachers regarding new approaches to learning.
Dicole OZ is an open but invitation-based event for people interested in the future and the spirit of the age. Dicole OZ combines digital and physical interaction and conversation methods in a creative way. Each session has an internationally known speaker, who will set the theme for the evening. All presentations are streamed live or made avalable afterwards through the web. Our list of speakers include such notable names as B. Joseph Pine II, Robin Good and Adam Greenfield.
Brief
A joint-project by Tieto and Helsinki School of Economics approached us with the need to improve conversation, research and business opportunities around the idea of a real-time economy.
Solution
We created a concept and implementation for the Real-Time Economy Community idea. On the site you can share ideas, dive into research, publish showcases and network with other people and organizations interested in the real-time economy. In 2008 our project won the e-business & commerce category of WSA Finland at MindTrek.
Brief
The Seinäjoki Technology Centre wanted to strengthen local and international music industry by providing digital community for musicians.
Solution
We generated an idea of Rytmikorjaamo Pyramid service, in which musicians, bands, and fans network together, and implemented it. Bands share their music and videos. According to audience's reaction the most interesting content will stand out.
Brief
Servicedesign.tv is a service design network providing service design competence and piloting education. Nevertheless, their starting point was that service design experts are scattered around Finland. In addition to few grand meetings they have, however, a need to keep contact and continue generating and refining ideas constantly.
Solution
We implemented a digital knowledge work platform according to their own visual appearance. The platform facilitates sharing articles and information, improves networking opportunies, and gives out ideas and visions.
Brief
Tekes is the main public funding organisation for research, development and innovation in Finland. The need was to bring together various people and organizations funded through their programs in a service that breaks the traditional silos of news, events and conversation.
Solution
We created an online service with public and private areas for events, news and conversation around the topics relevant to the industry specific needs. The solution bridges the web and face-to-face events in a way that promotes continuity and community formation.
Brief
The Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation, Tekes, follows closely worldwide development in order to detect significant trends as early as possible. For sharing the discoveries and analyzing the scenes collectively an electronic forum.
Solution
We planned and implemented a community for sharing discoveries to Tekes. The signals are visualized map-like according to the conversation and evaluations that they arouse.
Brief
TIVIT is the Strategic Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation on the field of ICT in Finland. Their research programmes need an online community for the programme members and partners.
Solution
Together with the customer we created the TIVIT Amfi concept. Theonline community would bring together various programmes under the same community. In addition, each programme have their own working areas. We participated in technical implementation, preliminary content production, support, visual identity and introductory video production of the service.
Brief
Video on Demand and innternet-video services are a rising trend on international audiovisual market. Finnish broadcasters and production houses have recognized the opportunities and are looking for a way to collaborate in order to succeed in the future.
Solution
VODhub is an online community involved with the communication, market research, networking between companies, creating a digital community and arranging events in the VOD field. Dicole's role has been to get the companies together, negotiate public funding for the project and give the VODhub a kick-start.
